This beautiful detailed building
Seen from the BQE on way to Downtown Brooklyn was a UTA yeshivah for boys.
The above intricate building in Downtown Brooklyn a shot distance from Williamsburg
Belonged to United Talmudic Academy. The building bore such a sign on top of building.
Was eventually sold for the Chinese community
Many of our boys attended and learned in this beautiful structure

Thousands of Jewish girls had the זכות & זכיה to walk over the threshold of this Historical structure, including me and my sister. What a ‘zechut’ it was really to be there every day and every hour of that time in my life.
We had the ‘zechut׳ to be taught by מורות נשים צדקניות
That were the תלמידות of
Sarah Schnirer a”h
These teachers were a non replaceable features

It was in the summer of 1949
We were standing at the port next to the ship we were to board. waiting for just another piece of paper, another important document. My mother begging and crying to the captain of the ship ‘ please do not leave us here׳ the document is gonna arrive here in a short while.
Oh indeed the ‘important paper has arrived’ and we were set to go. No sooner we ducked the ship the gates were closed behind us. No more entering !
The anchor of the ship was lifted as the sailing movements, of boat was felt in every rhythm of ourselves.
*Luckily we were able to escape this time after a failed try about 2 years earlier. The spreading winds of Communism were felt all over and the “word” was to escape. We just left the city of Satu-Mare in Romania. Heading to ארץ ישראל *
With just some meager supplies and belonging. However B”H we made it. We are on the boat and sailing. My mother was so sea sick however overwhelmed we R going to ארץ ישראל to ירושלים

The journey from Satu-Mare to the Port of Haifa Isreal took about 4 days. All I remember is the fish jumping up hi in the sky again and again entertains for a girly less than 4years old.
And of course the emotional moment has arrived stepping a foot on Israeli soil. My parents bent to the ground and kissed the ground. Only a fiction a short time ago. Now turned a reality. A step that changed reality forever.
Standing on the promised land
Me myself I am overcome with emotions and crying as I am typing.
My parents people that has lost almost everything
Are standing here and viewing the beautiful land given to us by the
Can you imagine how emotionally overtaken these people were! About 5 years earlier they escaped the claws of evil a monstrous Era not seen since בריאת העולם
People that were able to snatch away from the Tyranny

On way to Beni-Berak
Luckily we had an uncle that Thad had tiny 2 story primitive brick building isolated on the outskirts of the Beni-Brak
A building next to a leather factory he owned however not operational. We were surrounded by nature! Absolutely NO neighbors. It was us upstairs and uncle פעטער מרדכי with children down stairs. The main water valve was on the roof or nearby. Had to be open & closed as needed .there was a big round crock stuck in the wall that was removed and water was coming into a main hold. Oops the cork was in wall again. Luckily we had sort of a bathroom.
We all need to thank ה׳ to this day! And continue to Thank ה׳
Those shanty towns that families were stuck in for many years with no private facilities במעברות / shanties people lived under duress! Horrible conditions.
B”H we had a roof over our heads a big square hole. However, my parents and my uncle made it work for the meanwhile!
Oh, so our natural friends were
the coyotes that lived in dungeon they dug out in the earth. They would scream all night into the morning. There was a big Beehive 🐝 facility that belonged to a fellow that let us see the process, the way he emptied the honey into big containers.
This guy must have had the best honey 🍯 in the world and I tell you why!

Beni-brak in those times / days 1950 -60s consisted of many many citrus🍊 orchards .
For miles and miles of walking All you saw was orchards of 🍊
With some low key housings on the side.
Well our natural neighbors were those beautiful orchards in season when those little yellow white flowers were budding the sites and the smell was מעין גן עדן. Those dark greens leaves with those yellow buds. Where breathtaking. Not even the orchards in Florida can compete.
However, quite frightening to be so isolated to an extreme.
BH we had פעטער מורדכי with us We were strong people coming from the same place
Coming from חורבן אירופה
Were everything was taken away from us! However we had
My mother was able to make everything look nice fresh and ‘Gusto’ a Hungarian expression she even ironed our clothing remember with a coal iron!
Was a big ‘ black klutzy’ piece of pointy metal that opened you put in hot stuff❤️🔥 to keep the ironer warm. Possibly she made her own starch so the dresses and my father’s shirts look clean & Gusto!
My mother, she was never lazy she had an old fashioned ‘Singer’sewing machine with a pedal * not electric yet!
Oh she was so creative
There is so much to write about all that she sewed
* besides sewing the prettiest dresses. She also sewed at times

Short but excellent note ‼️
—————
We are at a very elegant age. We have almost everything we wanted 60 years ago:
– We no longer go to school or work.
– We have monthly pocket money.
– We have decent accommodation.
– We don’t have to get home on time.
– Many of us have a driver’s license and even our own car.
– People our age are not afraid to die, because we are already lucky to be almost old.
So life is beautiful! And most importantly: we are incredibly smart! Our brain is slower just because it is overloaded with knowledge. We are by no means stupid, we just need to spend more time looking for the necessary facts among the tons of knowledge and experience. There are many things accumulated in our brain, which by the way put pressure on the inner ear. This is why we are sometimes hard of hearing. It’s like a computer hard drive that slows down because it’s full of files. Our brain is not weaker, but it has accumulated much more information.
They say people our age often walk into a room and don’t remember what they came for. Why can’t we remember where we put this or that thing? This is not a memory problem. Nature only requires us to keep moving at least a little longer.
For anyone over 60 years of age:
Electricity required:
1. Vegetables, fruits
2. Legumes
3. Nuts
4 eggs
5. Fish, meat (several times a week)
6. Cold-pressed (unrefined) vegetable oil.
Three things you should try to forget:
1: Your age
2: The past
3: Complaints.
Three important things:
1. Friends
2. Positive thoughts
3. A calm and welcoming home.
Your most important actions:
1. Smile and laugh a lot!
2. Physical exercises, but at your own pace
3. Spend more time with friends (not just parents, children or grandchildren, but friends).
Seven essential things:
1. Don’t wait until you are thirsty to drink water. drink more often.
2. Don’t wait until you’re asleep to sleep. get enough sleep
3. Don’t wait until you are tired to rest. rest occasionally.
4. Do not wait until you are sick to undergo a medical examination. Prefer to go to the doctor regularly!
5. Don’t wait for divine miracles, bring them. Pray often.
6. Never lose confidence!
7. Stay positive and always hope for the best!
😊😇🤩

BH to all our valued visiting this page. Hope you enjoy the content of this page and all others. Lots of effort in organizing, uploading, publishing these ‘old photos’ from once upon a time.
This 8th Grade בית-יעקב was taken more than 60 years ago.
Each girl took an individual photo dressed in a white embroidered blouse. In all it was combined into this Extra ordinary display.
BH in the near future we shall elaborate more about structure of the building the way it came to be from a small one story bldg, to a beautiful spacey 4 story structure.
And of course we will write at length about those wonderful teachers, staff, and the curriculum.
If you recognize yourself, a sibling of yours, a friend or neighbor! It would be nice to hear from you.

רש״י Transtation of the תנ׳ך and more is a must to this day. With רוח-הקודש he is able to explain with ease the words of the תנ׳ך so the everage Lerner can understand with ease the content.

רש״י כתב has it’s own unique set of the א׳ב׳ that needs to be learned so to be able to read and understand.

B”H Hi to all our visitors visiting from around the globe.
It’s facinating to see the huge volume of people searching the site. Interested in valuable Zichronot * photogrophy from the past. It’s really, something money can not buy. If it was preserved in the past, chances are that you will cherish it in the future. There is more Photogrophy that I plan to share with the audience. However, it would be nice to hear from you. If you recognize any faces that have no names. Please fill in the void. These sweet girls married and some are here in NY. some are in England and Europe.
